Foam Double-Coated Tapes
- A foam closed cell, cross linked polyethylene foam coated on both sides with a pressure sensitive adhesive
- Used to bond and confirm the product to irregular surfaces
- Can be protected by a release liner which is removed and discarded at the time of installation
Single-Coated Adhesive Tapes
- A flexible carrier adhesive tape material that is coated on one side with a pressure sensitive adhesive
- Used to bond the product to a substrate - splice other items together
- Can be protected by a release liner which is removed and discarded at the time of installation
Double-Coated Adhesive Tapes
- A fairly thin, flexible carrier adhesive material that is coated on both sides with a pressure sensitive adhesive
- Used to bond two substrates, either similar or dissimilar in nature, together
- Highly customizable with the two adhesive layers being the same or different adhesives
- Protected by a release liner on one side with the other side exposed
- Ideal for gasket bonding, insulation materials, bonding electronic components, attaching molding, extruded plastic parts and more
Transfer Adhesive Tapes
- Also called free film, this product consists of a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive without a carrier
- Protected by a release liner on one side with the other side exposed
- More extensible and conformable because there is no carrier
- Ideal for mounting nameplates, second surface printed signs or labels, and other decorative substrates
Types of Adhesives
Rubber Adhesives
Rubber adhesives are made from natural or synthetic rubbers and are formulated with various compounds to become tacky.
- High initial strength
- Very good general purpose uses
- Most cost-effective PSA
- Adequate for short-term, non-critical, indoor applications
- Limited chemical, temperature and UV light resistance
- Not recommended for high heat applications
Acrylic Adhesives
Acrylic adhesive tapes are a combination of acrylic monomers and other compounds formulated to create specific chemical structures that are tacky.
- Widest range of performance characteristics
- Adheres to most surfaces permanently
- Good initial strength that builds with dwell time
- Typically develops stronger bond than rubber-based adhesives
- Long-term aging, outdoor stability
- Outstanding chemical, temperature and UV light resistance
Silicone Adhesives
Silicone adhesive tapes are formulated with silicone polymers specifically designed to bond with silicone substrates for premium performance.
- Wider temperature range than rubber or acrylic adhesives
- Clean removability
- Suitable for long-term, critical applications
- Excellent chemicals, moisture and ultraviolet rays resistance
- Low initial tack that builds for superior bond strength
- Highest cost
